I’m notoriously bad at keeping in touch with people. I never call, I never write, and when I do get together with people I hardly ever follow up. That was the point of blogging in the first place.
But I ran across two more ways that should help a bit. GrandCentral is a service that gives you “one phone number for life”. Basically you get a new number that you can give out to all of your contacts, and this number can then forward calls to all your other numbers. That doesn’t sound like much, but it actually has all sorts of cool features like being able to ring multiple phones at once, route certain calls to voicemail, e-mail copies of voicemails, and more. The best part, nobody will need to update your number if it ever changes.
The other service I just started checking out is called FriendFeed. It’s invite only, but if you’re the type of person that has blogs, Flickr photo streams, YouTube pages, and all that, FriendFeed provides a single place where your friends can subscribe to all of them instead of having to subscribe to each separately. If you want to check mine out, you can find it here.
Of course this doesn’t mean I’m actually making much of an effort to get in touch with people directly – but hey, at least I’m making it easy for you to get in touch with me.

…was a terrible movie. But indoor skydiving is fun. I’m not quite there yet with the outdoor variety — too much to live for, have a wife and kid, all that. So last week I went with my team from work to iFly over in Union City as part of a team-building offsite. I was pretty excited about it but turned out to be a little disappointing initially. The windtunnel’s really small, they don’t let you do anything cool other than hover for the most part, and the most critical piece: there’s no freefall. But it was still cool to try. Couldn’t really say I was excited about the price, though – $70 for 4 minutes of fun is pretty steep, although they say that it’s the equivalent of 4 actual jumps from a plane. Although jumping from a plane does have the death-defying thrill aspect to it.
However, I’d already gotten some passes for Huong and myself for her birthday which we’d never redeemed, so I took her a couple of days later to try it out. Plus there’s nothing sexier than a lady in a jumpsuit. I have to say the 2nd time around it’s a lot more fun since the instructor let me pretty much fly around inside the tunnel without any assistance. I wasn’t doing barrel rolls or anything, but it got me thinking I might try it out again…Huong thought it was fun to try, but wasn’t really all that excited about going again – once was enough. But if anybody else out there’s interested in giving it a go, I might be convinced to take another trip…

You’ve never experienced frustration until you’ve had a 2 year old scream the same sentence at the top of her lungs for 30 minutes at 3AM.
